Hilton Garden Inn Charlottesville

I am a frequent traveler and a Hilton Honors member and have stayed at many hotels. We had a really bad experience when we stayed here recently. We loved the opportunity to select our room online as Honors members. In doing so, we were offered an upgrade for drinks and snacks which turned out to be very lame. Don’t do it! Also, when we checked in, our floor was very sticky and needed cleaning. We reported our dissatisfaction with the value of the upgrade and the sticky floors to an older woman at the front desk who I suspect was a manager. The older woman there was very snarky and basically did not care. She sent a man up with a dry swifter mop and a spray bottle. He sprayed the floor and dry mopped it but it did not help so we just gave up on getting it fixed. The manager response below that she reached out several times to ask about it is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. She never once reached out to us by phone or I. Person or at the front desk, not once!!! In addition, the bedding was worn as well and looked old and in need of replacement. We also complained when we complained about the sticky floor about the snack and drink situation and we were told BY THE SAME WOMAN that she would only allow us to exchange one drink for another drink. We told her that if we had known how lame it was, we would not have paid for that. Again, she was clear that this was the only option. The fact that the manager would lie in her response is extremely disappointing and I will be contacting Hilton on this. This hotel is extremely disappointing and we stay at a lot of hotels and travel a lot but this is probably one of the worst experiences I have had and was only made worse by the lies written in the below response. Be assured, we wholly recommend you not waste your time with this place!

Absolutely horrible experience. The price gouging only is bad enough. But I did not sleep 1 hour. The front desk clerk was high as a kite when I checked in, the pet fees are absolutely ridiculous given the fact they are non refundable even if no damage is done. The air conditioning was completely outdated it was either hot or freezing in the room. Was going to swim but the pool looked dirty and it wreaked of chlorine. They will charge you for every single thing you touch in the room so dont believe what they say. For a hilton hotel this one is the worst Ive been to by far. Will not be staying here again or recommending to anyone looking to stay here. Save your money and go to anywhere else.

The rooms, laundry room, pool area are not kept clean. The pool walking area is slimy and filthy. I checked in the other day to a room with leftover food in the fridge..gross. Throwing carpet fresh on the floor and letting it sit just to smell nice is not how a hotel should be cleaned.There is a waitress (Paulette)...in the onsite restaurant who is constantly very vocal about her personal life. I dont want to hear nor care about her drama. Obviously its a tactic to get guests to feel sorry, to leave a bigger tip. But an awful way to go about it. Her aggressive nature to coworkers to get all the tables and tips is awful to see, she is scarey looking so maybe the behavior slides. Why is this behavior allowed in front of guests? Where is management? A Hilton Garden Inn needs to aches higher standards.
